Our story
1840
We are proud to possess the skills and knowledge of generations of stonemasons gained through two centuries of trading, with the origins of our company stretching back to the 1840s in Eltmann, Germany.
1997
Vetter UK was established in 1997, with the home of our very first project being the world-renowned Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. We were responsible for the installation of limestone rainscreen cladding to three elevations of this iconic building situated in central London.
2000
In 2000, Vetter UK and Steinindustrie Vetter, including their quarries and production facilities in Germany, were taken over by R O’Rourke & Son.
2001
John Laing Construction, including their well-known in-house stone specialist company, Laing Stonemasonry, were acquired by R O’Rourke & Son.
2004
In 2004, Vetter UK and Laing Stonemasonry merged to form an unrivalled source for natural stone ready to deliver for clients across the UK.
2024
Vetter UK continues to enhance our capabilities to meet the demands of today's construction market.
